The area offers water recreation with two lakes - Norfork and Bull Shoals - and three rivers - the North Fork, the White and the Buffalo - plus Crooked Creek. The Buffalo River is the nations' first National Wild River. Residents and visitors alike enjoy the aquatic activities year round, including fishing, boating, canoeing, scuba diving, waterskiing, to name a few.
Mountain land provides a variety of other outdoor sports such as camping, hiking, bicycling and horseback trail riding. The area also offers oppurtunities for special interest outdoor activities such as bird watching, nature photography and spelunking for little to no cost. We also have the Buffalo River National Forest with thousands of acres of unspoiled natural forests, streams, and springs. There are even a herd of elk!
